Hi I am Jennifer Jones and I am creating this campaign on behalf of my son Caldio Bingham. He used to work as a construction worker but he was recovering from a machete attack that left him with severe injuries to his head when he fell from a tree and broke his back.

My son was living a normal and independent life, but things started going downhill after he was attacked in his Hart Hill community in Portland and chopped by two men. The injuries to his head caused him to have multiple seizures at times and he is unable to use his right hand because the doctor said the left nerves that is damaged is connected to the right side of the body.

Unfortunately, things took a turn for the worse on November 11 when Caldio climbed a breadfruit tree and one of the breadfruit hit him in his head and he lost his balance and fell. After he was rushed to the Annotto Bay hospital, an X-ray showed that he broke his back.

He was then transferred to the Kingston Public Hospital (KPH) for a surgical operation but they had to send him back to Annotto Bay hospital last Friday because we can’t afford to buy the pins and screws needed for the operation as yet. The KPH staff also said they are in need of the bed space at the facility and because we do not have the items required to carry out the surgical procedure, they have to send him back until we are ready.

So my son is currently hospitalised and is in need of an operation but I cannot afford the more than $600,000 that is needed to purchase a set of pins and screws for his back. He also need to visit the KPH for treatment for his head injuries but he is unable to move at all because he’s only able to lay on his back which resulted in him getting bed sores. He is in constant pain and I hate to see him suffer like this. Due to his hospitalization and immobility, thieves have also broken into his house and stole most of his furniture and other items.

Therefore, I am pleading the public for some financial assistance to assist with my son’s operation, medical and personal care.
